(A) Christmas Spend & Get Promotion 2019 Terms & Conditions

  1. This Christmas Spend & Get Promotion 2019 ("Promotion") is valid from 1 November to 25 December 2019, both dates inclusive ("Promotional Period") unless otherwise stated, and is offered by HSBC Bank (Singapore) Limited ("HSBC" or the "Bank") to customers:
    1. who hold one or more main HSBC credit cards (except HSBC US dollar cards, HSBC corporate cards, and HSBC debit cards) issued by HSBC in Singapore (each, a "Card") as a primary credit cardholder; and
    2. whose Card account is in good standing with HSBC over the entire Promotional Period and at the time of fulfillment (as determined by HSBC at its discretion), (each such customer, a "Cardholder").
  2. HSBC reserves the right to determine at our discretion whether:
    1. Cardholder(s) have met all the requirements of this Promotion; and
    2. Charges made to the Card qualify towards fulfilment of the relevant accumulated minimum Qualifying Spend (as defined below) set for the purposes of this Promotion.
  3. The Qualifying Spend accumulated by a Cardholder for this Promotion is not valid for the purpose of, and cannot be used for any other offers or promotions unless otherwise stated.
  4. Use of the Gifts (as defined below) is subject to the terms and conditions of the merchant(s) providing the relevant products and/or services; please refer to the respective merchant(s) for details. HSBC is not a supplier of the products and/or services provided by the merchant(s) involved in this Promotion and will not accept any liability in relation thereto. There will be no replacement of lost, defaced, damaged or stolen Gift(s) after issuance.
  5. The Gifts are not exchangeable for cash, rewards points, credit or kind in all cases, whether in whole or in part. HSBC may, at its discretion, substitute the Gift(s) with an item of equal or similar value without prior notice.
  6. For the purpose of this Promotion:

    "Qualifying Spend" means retail transactions which are Local Retail Transactions or Online Transactions or Overseas Transactions charged to a Registered Card (as defined below) account and/or to the account of the supplemental cardholder of the relevant Registered Cardholder (as defined below) during the Promotional Period BUT shall exclude the Excluded Transactions.

    "Local Retail Transactions" shall mean retail transactions (excluding Online Transactions) which are successfully carried out in Singapore and charged in Singapore dollars to the Registered Card account and/or to the account of a supplemental cardholder of the relevant the Registered Cardholder during the Promotional Period BUT shall exclude the Excluded Transactions.

    "Online Transactions" shall mean retail transactions successfully charged to the Registered Card account and/or to the account of a supplemental cardholder of the Registered Cardholder made via the internet and processed by the respective merchants/acquirers as an online transaction type through the MasterCard International Incorporated and/or Visa Worldwide networks during the Promotional Period BUT shall exclude the Excluded Transactions.

    "Overseas Transactions" shall mean overseas retail transactions successfully carried out outside Singapore and charged in foreign currency to a Registered Card account and/or to the account of a supplemental cardholder of a Registered Cardholder during the Promotional Period BUT shall exclude the Excluded Transactions.

    "Excluded Transactions" shall mean any of the following:-
    • foreign exchange transactions (for example but not limited to Forex.com, etc.), cash advances, late payment charges, bank charges, personal loan charges, balance and/or funds transfer transactions, tax payments, payments at government agencies, insurance premiums, donations, transactions relating to HSBC's Cash Instalment Plan, quasi-cash transactions (for example but not limited to transactions relating to money orders, traveler's checks, gaming related transactions, lottery tickets) and any other fee charges in respect of a Card. In the case of transactions relating to instalment payment plans of any merchant, only each instalment amount charged to a Card within the Promotional Period qualifies as a Local Retail Qualifying Spend or Qualifying Spend (as the case may be), and not the aggregate amount of the instalment plan;
    • balances owing on Card accounts accruing from any period that does not fall within the Promotional Period;
    • transactions relating to top-ups of any pre-paid card (including but not limited to YouTrip, EZLINK, EZ Link,, FlashPay ATU, TRANSIT LINK);
    • transactions relating to the trading of securities of any kind including but not limited to any top up of any cash amount required by a financial institution;
    • transactions relating to payments and money transfers made through the internet (including but not limited to Paypal, SKR skrill.com);
    • any transaction that is subsequently cancelled, voided, disputed or reversed for any reason; and/or
    • such other categories of transactions which HSBC may exclude from time to time without notice or giving reasons.
  7. To participate in this Promotion, a Cardholder must (in no particular order):
    1. successfully register their Card by sending an SMS with the relevant Gift Code in the following format to 74722: PROMO<space>Gift code<space>16-digit credit card number (E.g.: PROMO XMAS STAY 4835123456789000) within the Promotional Period (each successfully registered Cardholder shall be a "Registered Cardholder" and the Card used by him/her to make the registration will be a "Registered Card").
      1. Be among the first 1,500 Registered Cardholders to charge a minimum Qualifying Spend of S$5,800 within the Promotional Period to their Registered Card(s); OR
      2. Be among the first 800 Registered Cardholders to charge a minimum Qualifying Spend of S$9,800 within the Promotional Period to their Registered Card(s).
    2. Cardholders only need to register their interest once during the Promotional Period.
    3. SMS registrations in any other format, and/or with incorrect information will be automatically disqualified. An acknowledgement of participation will be sent to each Cardholder that has successfully registered. SMS delivery of such acknowledgment of participation is dependent on the relevant telecommunication service providers. HSBC is not responsible in any manner whatsoever for any non-receipt of, or delay in the receipt of, any SMS by any party.
    4. By registering for this Promotion, a Cardholder consents to the use of his/her personal data by the Bank to contact him/her with updates and offers relating to this Promotion, including the use of the Cardholder's telephone number and email address to contact him/her via SMS and email.

  8. Each Registered Cardholder who has satisfied the relevant requirements under Clause 7b.(i) and 12 shall be entitled to redeem a choice of Prego 4-course set lunch or dinner for 2, or Szechuan Court Choice of Business Set A, B or C (lunch or dinner) for 2, or Szechuan Court Weekend Ala-Carte Dim Sum Buffet Lunch for 2 (the "Gift A"), and each Registered Cardholder who has satisfied the relevant requirements under Clause 7b.(ii) and 12 shall be entitled to redeem an Accor Plus Explorer Membership ("Gift B", and collectively with Gift A, the "Gifts"). Gift A is limited to the first 1,500 redemptions, and Gift B is limited to the first 800 redemptions.

    A Registered Cardholder who has satisfied all the relevant requirements under Clause 7 and 12 shall be referred to as a "Qualified Cardholder". HSBC shall in its absolute discretion determine if a Registered Cardholder has satisfied the terms and conditions of this Promotion. HSBC's records relating to this Promotion including any details relating to registration and Qualifying Spend shall be final and binding on all Cardholders.
  9. For the purposes of calculating Overseas Transactions, transactions made in foreign currencies will be converted into Singapore dollars based on HSBC's prevailing exchange rate applicable at the time of exchange.
  10. If any Qualifying Spend is cancelled or reversed during or after the Promotional Period such that the total Qualifying Spend charged to a Registered Card during the Promotional Period falls short of the relevant minimum Qualifying Spend, the relevant Cardholder will not be considered to have met the Qualifying Spend and will not be considered a Qualified Cardholder.
  11. All Qualifying Spend transactions charged to the Primary Cards in the name of the same Cardholder will be aggregated together to qualify for the minimum Qualifying Spend. HSBC is not responsible for any failure or delay in the transmission of Qualifying Spend transactions by any party including but not limited to acquiring merchants, merchant establishments, or any telecommunications provider.

    Supplementary cardholders are not eligible for this Promotion. However, for each main Cardholder who is a Registered Cardholder, Qualifying Spend made by supplementary cardholders will be consolidated under such main Cardholder's Card account for the purpose of accumulating the relevant minimum Qualifying Spend.
  12. All Qualifying Spend with transaction dates within the Promotional Period must be posted to a Registered Cardholder's Card account by 3 January 2020. HSBC accepts no liability for any late submission of any Qualifying Spend by a merchant for any reason.
  13. Each Qualified Cardholder is limited to a maximum of one (1) redemption of either Gift A or Gift B.
  14. A redemption letter containing details of the redemption of Gift A or Gift B will be mailed to each qualifying Registered Cardholder by post at his/her address in HSBC's records by 29 February 2020. All Gifts are valid while stocks last, on a first-come-first-served basis.
  15. The Gifts are not exchangeable for cash, rewards points, credit or any other item in all cases, whether in whole or in part.
  16. HSBC assumes no liability for any Gifts and/or Prizes that are lost during mailing.
  17. The Qualifying Spend accumulated by a Registered Cardholder for this Promotion is not valid for the purpose of, and cannot be used for, any other offers or promotions unless otherwise stated.
  18. This Promotion is not valid in conjunction with other promotions, privileges and vouchers.
  19. In the event that a Registered Card is voluntarily or involuntarily cancelled or terminated or suspended for any reasons whatsoever, or a Qualified Cardholder is determined by HSBC (in its sole discretion) not to have fulfilled the conditions of the Promotion for any reason, HSBC reserves the right to forfeit the redemption letter for Gift A or Gift B (where applicable) at its sole discretion.
  20. HSBC's records relating to this Promotion including but not limited to any details relating to registration and Qualifying Spend shall be final and binding on all Cardholders.
  21. HSBC accepts no liability for any late submission of any transaction by merchants for whatever reason.
  22. HSBC reserves the right to vary, delete or add to any of these terms and conditions, or withdraw or alter the Promotion at any time without prior notice.
  23. In case of a dispute, the decision of HSBC shall be final.
  24. Should there be any issues related to this Promotion, the Cardholder is required to contact HSBC at 1800-HSBC NOW (4722 669) or e-mail to direct@hsbc.com.sg
  25. This Promotion is strictly not valid with other offers or promotions unless otherwise stated. For the avoidance of doubt, Cardholders who register their Card under this Promotion shall not be eligible to participate in any other HSBC credit card promotions or similar promotions offered by the Bank during the Promotional Period. Likewise, Cardholders who register their Card under other promotions shall not be eligible to participate in this Promotion.
  26. These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of Singapore and the parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Singapore.
  27. All information is accurate at the time of publishing or posting online.

(B) Christmas Spend & Get Promotion 2019 FAQ

All Qualifying Spend must be transacted between 1 November to 25 December 2019, both dates inclusive.

To participate in this Promotion, a Cardholder must (in no particular order):

You will receive an acknowledgement SMS reply to confirm your registration. However, this does not mean that you have successfully qualified for the Gift, even if you have successfully met the minimum Qualifying Spend.

Note that verification on Cardholders' total Qualifying Spend will only be conducted at the end of the Promotional Period. Only upon verification can we ascertain whether you have met the required minimum Qualifying Spend criteria (refer to Clause 6 of Terms and Conditions for definition of Qualifying Spend).

After the Promotional Period, HSBC will verify if the minimum Qualifying Spend has been met by the Registered Cardholder. Qualifying Spend made by supplementary cardholders will be consolidated under the main Cardholder's HSBC Card account for the purpose of accumulating the minimum Qualifying Spend.

No. You may accumulate your Qualifying Spend within the Promotional Period to be eligible for the Gift, where applicable. However, you need to be among the first 1,500 Registered Cardholders to charge a minimum Qualifying Spend of S$5,800 within the Promotional Period to your Registered Card(s), or be among the first 800 Registered Cardholders to charge a minimum Qualifying Spend of S$9,800 within the Promotional Period to your Registered Card(s).

You may not have been within the first 1,500 Registered Cardholders to have met the relevant minimum Qualifying Spend requirement, OR the total spend amount that you have charged to your Card may not have been a Qualifying Spend (refer to Clause 6 of the Terms and Conditions for definition of Qualifying Spend).

Yes. All Qualifying Spend transactions charged to the Cards in the name of the same Primary Cardholder will be aggregated together to qualify for the minimum Qualifying Spend. HSBC is not responsible for any failure or delay in the transmission of any Qualifying Spend transactions by any party including but not limited to acquiring merchants, merchant establishments, or any telecommunications provider.

Qualified Cardholders will receive a Redemption Letter via post to their last known address as per HSBC's records by 29 February 2020.

Qualified Cardholders of Gift A will receive a Redemption Letter via post to their last known address as HSBC's records by 29 February 2020. Each Redemption Letter will be issued in the Cardholder's name and redemptions have to be made by 31 May 2020, strictly no extensions will be allowed. No replacement will be made for any damaged or lost Redemption Letter. Details of the redemption will be stated in the Redemption Letter.

Qualified Cardholders of Gift B will receive a Redemption Letter via post to their last known address as HSBC's records by 29 February 2020. The Redemption Letter will contain details of the redemption of Gift B.

For the redemption of Gift A, Qualified Cardholders must produce the original Redemption Letter that they have received via post and the original Registered Card. Details of the redemption will be stated in the Redemption Letter.

For the redemption of Gift B, Qualified Cardholders must follow the instructions provided to them in the Redemption Letter.

For the redemption of Gift A, a Qualified Cardholder may authorise a proxy to make the redemption on his/her behalf. The proxy will have to present his/her own NRIC / Passport together with the following for redemption:

  • The original Redemption Letter; and
  • A photocopy of the Cardholder's Card used to make the relevant Minimum Qualifying Spends

For the redemption of Gift B, a Qualified Cardholder may not authorize a proxy to make redemption on his/her behalf.

Use of the Gift(s) and Reward(s) is subject to the terms and conditions of the merchant(s) providing the relevant products and/or services; please refer to the merchant for details. HSBC is not a supplier of the products and/or services provided by the merchant(s) involved in this Promotion and will not accept any liability in relation thereto.

HSBC reserves the right to revise any of these terms and conditions, or withdraw or alter any part of this Promotion at any time without prior notice and/or assuming any liability to any party and shall not be liable to pay any compensation or enter into any correspondence in connection with the same.
